Thomas Garrett Brown, Co-Owner
Thomas Garrett, A native of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, he began his training under Cuban born Dulce Anaya and English trained Laurie Byrd. After attending Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida, he joined Richmond Ballet as an apprentice in 2003. From 2005 until 2013 he diligently studied under the direction of Malcolm Burn, leading him to perform principal roles in major ballet classics, such as “Albrecht” in Giselle and “Siegfried” in Swan Lake. His stay with Richmond Ballet allowed him to travel the globe, performing in such prestigious theatres as Royal Opera House in London, the Egg in Beijing, and the Grand Shanghai Theatre in Shanghai. His neoclassical repertoire includes many principal roles in well known Balanchine ballets, such as Allegro Brilliante and Duo Concertante. In 2015, Mr. Garrett was invited to join The Suzanne Farrell Ballet at the Kennedy Center, and expand his principal experience in Balanchine works. While being coached by Miss Farrell herself, he was afforded the opportunity to perform principal roles in Chaconne, "Emeralds" from the full-length Jewels, Gounod Symphony, and most notably as “El Capitan” in Stars and Stripes. Thomas has also performed contemporary and modern works by Ma Cong, Gina Patterson, Jessica Lang, Tom Gold, Val Canaparoli, and John Butler. For the past three years, along with his partner Allynne Noelle, he worked as co-Ballet Director for Summit Dance Shoppe, building a pre-professional ballet training program that has already helped place young students in top world ballet programs - including Academie Princess Grace in Monaco and NextGen Conservatory at Patel. Thomas is also an accomplished coach and YAGP award winning teacher two years in a row.
